An angle comes from the Latin word "angulus" which is simply a figure formed by two lines having a common end point. Below are examples and meaning of different types of angles;
- Acute angle: When the angle where the lines meet is less than 90
- Right angle: When the angle where the lines meet are is 90
- Obtuse angle: When the angle where the lines meet is 90 greater than 90 and less than 180
- Reflex angle: When the angle where the lines meet is 90 greater than 180
- Straight angle : This is when everything is at 180
This is a very useful field in maths which applies to daily life examples. For example, engineers and architects use this knowledge for designs, roads and bridges. During A level, O Level, GCE, GCSE and necta exams, students are mostly tested in this topic under the subject mathematics through multiple choice questions and essay questions which involves calculations and analysis on angular figures and more.
